Japanese Brush pens are an occasion to what else draw!

Japanese Brush pens are an occasion to what else draw!

Gray ink brush pen, Muji black ink brushpen. A couple chinese calligraphy classes allows me to relax. The red ring you take off--it separates the ink from the brush array when inside the package. I kept it. Im a pack rat.

Delaying gratification. Been wandering into the Kinokuniya stationery store as a matter of course each time Im in Japan Town. I have more than enough drawing implements in my satchel. I have three or four sketchbooks in there, kneaded erasers, pens, pencils, ,waterbrush (and unopened spare), watercolor set, various hoarded coffee shop napkins for blotting, fountain pens--I am prepared for a drawing opportunity. Though most days I will not find one.

The bag is heavy. I have my GF-1 in there for photos that I will regret not taking, a copy of "And there you are" because this book was intended to replace the habit of carrying sketchbooks all the time. See Ive lost an entire bag with contents like mentioned above. Including a camera.

Old habits. "Then the terrorists win" internal argument loops and fades, results in carrying a reconstituted clone of the same bag, contents and all, anyway. Why not. If Im not drawing then what the heck Id just hang it up and buy a doughnut franchise.

But when the drawing does show up all recrimination is erased. More drawings want to show up. The need to try brushes and notebook papers and feeling some stories out glide in. The day is brighter in one corner.

The coffee helps, too.

Jagga Jasoos Poster Ex Lovers Ranbir Kapoor And Katrina kaif Takes An Ostrich Ride

Jagga Jasoos Poster Ex Lovers Ranbir Kapoor And Katrina kaif Takes An Ostrich Ride

The first poster with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif starring in ‘Jagga Jasoos’ has been released and it appears that the wait was well compensated. Jagga Jasoos movie was produced by Disney India and Picture Shuru Entertainment under the direction of Anurag Basu. Jagga Jasoos trailer is obvious to leave you spellbound and speechless.

Jagga-Jasoos-Poster

The movie brings together Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor after their successful venture ‘Barfi’. But this movie gonna bring together ex-flames Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor after their much publicized breakup.

In the poster, the former duo is seen riding an ostrich while escaping gunfire from a fighter plane, but why ostrich...Might be they couldn’t find anything faster! The movie which is a romcom, has been in the pipeline since quite a long time now.

Ranbir, with his nerdy hairdo, has an expression of utmost concentration while Katrina Kaif has an anxious look on her face. To mention, the ostrich is the only live object looking quite happy in the scene even bearing those weights.

The movie began when Ranbir and Katrina were very much in a relationship; however the frequent delays and inevitable breakup led to the postponement of the film, to get released now in 2017.

Jagga Jasoos is a musical entertainer which will see the return of Anurag Basu to the silver screen after directing the critically appreciated Barfi. Pritam is credited to compose the score for the movie, which is reported to have nearly more than a dozen songs.

The makers of the film released a new poster that really depicts a fun-filled ride, aiming for the young ones among the viewers.

The entire poster gives that Disney feel, which is expected since it is presented by Disney itself. The film is also written by Anurag Basu and also has stars like Adah Sharma and Sayani Gupta. Govinda is also rumoured to have a role in the movie, where Ranbir is enacting the role of a detective.

Both Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor sports similar looks with spectacles and sneakers. They are looking equally nerdy little bit in a comical manner.

We hope that the delay in the production of the film will give in a better movie and product. Jagga Jasoos release date has been announced to be on 7th April, 2017.

So we are eagerly awaiting the release of the movie and obviously you people who would love to see both the ex-flames in a stunning chemistry though in reel world.

Forty-five years after the phrase Houston, we ve had a problem here, became cemented in popular culture, two men instrumental in the safe return of Apollo 13 shared their experiences as part of Georgia Regents University s Alumni Weekend.

SLIDESHOW
James Lovell, the mission s commander who uttered the phrase shortly after an on-board explosion crippled the spacecraft, elektro and Apollo 13 flight control director Gene Kranz visited elektro the school s Maxwell Theatre.
Apollo 13 was to be the third mission to land on the moon and launched at 2:13 p.m. April 11, 1970, at Kennedy Space Center. The crew consisted of Lovell; John L. Swigert Jr., the command module pilot; and Fred W. Haise Jr., the lunar module pilot.
With the phrase Failure is not an option projected on a screen behind him beneath NASA s Mission Control emblem, Kranz told the crowd that their story is one of teamwork, and that only through leadership, trust and strong values was Apollo 13 capable of returning home safely.
It wasn t the first time the space program was faced with adversity. Kranz said he kept photos of past failures in his office, including one of the Apollo 1 fire that killed three astronauts, as a reminder that cockiness has no place in his high-risk business.
These were the kinds of things that really challenged the team, he said. The great thing was, we had a closed-loop elektro training system and a set of diabolical instructors who would run us through the gears to make sure that no matter what happened we maintained the poise and get on the right direction toward the solution. elektro
When an exploding oxygen tank rocked Apollo 13 three days into the mission, Lovell said, he felt a sinking sensation that he might never return home. But the crew wasted little time panicking, seeking refuge in the lunar module while Mission Control rallied to relay solutions from more than 200,000 miles away.
If I was waiting for some miracle to happen and I got in some sort of fetal position, I d still be there, Lovell said. Between Mission Control and the crew, we solved elektro one crisis at a time as they came up.
Lovell said he s had plenty elektro of time to reflect on the days he s spent in zero gravity. He still remembers the sights, smells and sounds of space, and still has difficulty wrapping his head around his accomplishments, with 713 flight hours in space logged.
He was among the first three people to see the dark side of the moon as part of the Apollo 8 crew. He said he ll never forget how Earth looked from the window of a spacecraft elektro or how he cheated death once again when he splashed down in the Pacific Ocean. elektro

It’s an Inside Job

It’s an Inside Job

Hi there.
How is your day going?
On a scale of 1 to 10.
10 being ‘marvellous’
and 1 being ‘not very marvellous at all’.
(euphemism for shite).

  Mine started out at 10,
dipped to 4,
but we’re back up to 10 again.
Didn’t take long to catch myself,
let go of the thought that was winding me up
and get positive again.

Nobody else involved;

I’VE BEEN ALONE ALL DAY !!!!

Today is art day.
Making projects for the New Design Clubs.
It’s my favourite thing to do too!

So why the dip? Why the melancholy intermezzo?
I wasn’t listening to sad music.
Wasn’t listening to radio 2,
interspersed with doom and gloom aka news.

No!
All I could hear was the birds outside.

Which all just goes to show it is an inside job.
It all goes on in my head; nowhere else.
I don’t need anybody else to wind me up;
I can do a perfectly good job all by myself.

Milton put it well...

“The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven..”
John MiltonParadise Lost

Nothing changes.
No news - good or bad. Nothing.
Just me and the cat.
A few emails to and fro. Just business. A couple of niggles,
which I am quite good at right-sizing and dismissing nowadays.

But it takes effort to bat off negativity and stay upbeat.
I have to be vigilant the whole waking day.
If I can adopt an attitude of gratitude
this helps put the barrier up against negativity.

Clearly, I let my guard down while engrossed in the artwork,
and in crept Ivan Axtogrind and his mates.

My friend Shelagh gave me a most exquisite book recently:

The Red Tree
by Shaun Tan

The artwork is beautiful.

Very, very emotive illustrations.
It’s all about a little girl who wakes up in a bad headspace.

Her day is dark and it doesn’t get better.

She feels very low and isolated....

is struggling to understand  what it’s all for.

the whole world seems to be against her.

and she doesn’t know who she is supposed to be
or what she is supposed to do.

She comes home, worn out after a very harrowing day,
only to find that what she was looking for was there the whole time.

It is a fantastic book.
Not many words. Mostly pictures.
But they speak volumes.

And yes.
it is most definitely
An Inside Job.

And gratitude is the key to my happiness.

Love & Gratitude always ,

Barb

Its an Auction! Or Not

Its an Auction! Or Not

You have said never to call an editor to check on the status of your query or manuscript submission. Other editors and editorial assistants have said the same thing. Just. Dont. Call. I understand this.

But what does the aspiring author do when a manuscript on multiple submission garners an offer from one publishing house? Presumably they will want to hear back within a reasonably short time frame, and yet, mailing status checks and "Just so you know, Ive had an offer/serious interest from another house looking at this manuscript that I sent you a while back," letters and waiting for a response on those can take a WHILE. (Especially if youre mailing things from Canada to the US, as I am. Snail mail is not far off.)

How does one go about this without making an interested publisher wait too long, angering the other editors who might be considering her work, and calling anybody?
The question is whether youve submitted to a slush pile or not. (For clarity, I am not talking about whether you put an editors name on the submission-- most of those end up in the slush pile, regardless.)

If you submitted to the slush pile, dont bother informing other publishers. The chances that they know where your manuscript is, much less have read it yet, are fairly infinitesimal. (Sorry. This is one of the reasons people get an agent.) Just go with the offer youve got, if its reasonable, or if its not, say no.

If you have submitted to an editor (i.e., because of a relationship with the editor, or because you attended a conference at which she spoke and she offered to read submissions following the conference, or some other reason), then it would be acceptable and prudent to email that editor and let her know you have interest elsewhere.

Meanwhile, let the publisher making the offer know that you just need to check in with the other people who have the manuscript, and then youll get back to them. If you dont hear back from the other publishers within a week, you should go ahead with the offer on the table. If any of the other publishers do want to enter bidding, they should be willing to get an offer on the table in a matter of days, not weeks.

Just Saw an Amazing Play

Just Saw an Amazing Play

Tonight I had the opportunity to see the production of August Wilsons Fences at the Cort Theater.
It was amazing. If you get a chance to go, go. Denzel Washington is fantastic, but I was in awe of Viola Davis. She has a moment (and youll know it when it happens) that is so incredibly fearless and moving it will blow you away.

In the audience there was a bit of a scene as well. Lenny Kravitz, Aretha Franklin, and Will Smith and Jada were all in attendance. So Im guessing this show is the hot ticket right now.
