Join Me at Mix Match Design Company!

Hello, friends! Today will be the last post on May Richer Fuller Be, but dont worry, Im not going away. :) Since going full time with my e-design business this summer, Ive devoted all of my time and energy to growing it, and I would love it if you joined me over at Mix & Match Design Company! I blog about all things interior design and decorating, and its where client project reveals are too. Yesterday, I posted a great gift guide for your Thanksgiving Host/Hostess - this year, show your appreciation to them for opening their home by bringing something a little more creative than a bottle of wine (though thats always welcome in my book!).
And if youve been waiting for the kitchen reveal, youre in luck, because its over there in all its before and after glory! Our IKEA kitchen turned out even better than I could have imagined, and Id love for you to pop over and see it.

These past four years(!) at May Richer Fuller Be have been incredibly formative, and have given me the chance to grow in more ways than I can count. Writing here gave me the confidence to start my business, and its been such a joy to pursue something that I love so much. Thank you for your support here - it means the world to me, and I do hope youll follow along with Mix & Match!

Jury Finds Scruggs Willfully Infringed Monsanto Patents Award at Least 9 Million in Damages
Jury Finds Scruggs Willfully Infringed Monsanto Patents Award at Least 9 Million in Damages
10 years ago Monsanto sued farmers Mitchell and Eddie Scruggs (collectively referred to as "Scruggs") for infringing patents relating to genetically modified Roundup Ready soybean seeds and Bollgard-containing cotton seeds. The case has resulted in numerous judicial decisions, including three Federal Circuit decisions, most notably Monsanto v. Scruggs, 459 F.3d 1328 (Fed. Cir. 2006). Scruggs raised numerous arguments against Monsanto, including first sale/patent exhaustion, implied license, lack of sufficient written description and enablement, as well as allegations of patent misuse and antitrust violations.
Nonetheless, Monsanto has prevailed, and on September 21 a jury in the Northern District of Mississippi found that Monsanto is entitled to $2.6 million for Scruggs unauthorized planting of saved crop seeds contain the patented genes, and $6.3 million for their sale of saved soybean seeds containing the Roundup Ready gene (a practice referred to as "brown bagging"). Not only that, the jury found that the infringement was willful, which means that the court can enhance the damages up to triple the amount found by the jury, or close to $30 million. Based on history, I would not be surprised if Scruggs continues to appeal, perhaps stretching this out a few more years.

Japanese man rescued after night at sea on surfboard
Japanese man rescued after night at sea on surfboard

The 37-year-old told police a current had pulled him out to sea off Bulli Beach, 80km (50 miles) south of Sydney on Thursday evening.
Sailors on the MSC Damla spotted him floating about 6km offshore and pulled him on board using a lifebuoy.
They gave him food, drink and warm clothing and contacted the authorities. A pilot vessel from Port Kembla returned him to shore. He was taken to hospital but discharged shortly afterwards. The man was in "remarkably good spirits", MSC Australias managing director Kevin Clarke said.
"Our crew are always being observant of marine traffic, but it is exceptionally fortunate they were able to spot this man waving for help from his surf board," he said.
The man had spent six hours trying to paddle back to shore before running out of energy, Inspector Darren Wood said.
He is estimated to have spent about 16 hours in the water but temperatures only dropped to 21 degrees during the night, preventing him from getting hypothermia, the Australian broadcaster ABC reported.
The safety organisation Surf Life Saving New South Wales said surfers should tell other people of their plans before setting out and be aware of local conditions, ABC said.

Julian Assange presents keynote speech at 19th International Symposium on Electronic Art in Sydney

| Book your ticket: from 9am 20 MAY: be quick! |
Julian Assange will present a Special Keynote speech at the 19th International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA2013), presented by the Australian Network for Art and Technology (ANAT) at the University of Sydney on Thursday 13 June 2013 at 5.30pm.
The Wikileaks founder will address conference delegates and a small public audience via live video link from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.
Julian Assange has a unique insight into the futility, or otherwise, of resisting the incursion of the digital into every aspect of our lives.
In systems under constant and multiple pressures there will always be leaks. Wikileaks exists because of this, embracing the digital, exploiting the ubiquity of digitised information: Resistance is Fertile.
Artists creatively investigate the possibilities and push the limits of new technologies, helping us to imaginatively experience and critically reflect on their implications for life in the 21st century.
The ISEA2013 program explores the ways art and new technologies are used in the service of power, protest and resistance.
